Car Sales Increase by 1.4% in July 2025 Despite Monthly Decline

Manila: Vehicle sales experienced a 1.4 percent increase on an annual basis in July 2025, with industry officials expressing optimism for continued growth throughout the year despite obstacles such as weather disturbances.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) released data indicating that approximately 269,207 units were sold by the end of July, an increase from the 265,610 units sold during the same period in 2024.

However, the data also revealed a 2.6 percent decline on a monthly basis, with only 38,295 units sold in July compared to 40,483 units in June. The first seven months of the year saw commercial vehicles accounting for about 80.03 percent of total car sales, amounting to 215,440 units. This was followed by light commercial vehicles with 161,388 units, passenger cars with 53,767 units, Asian utility vehicles and multi-purpose vehicles with 47,452 units, light-duty trucks and buses with 3,948 units, medium-duty trucks and buses with 2,019 units, and heavy-duty trucks and buses with 633 units.

The market share is predominantly held by Toyota Motor Philippines Corp., which commands a share of 48.04 percent. This is followed by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. at 19 percent, Nissan Philippines, Inc. at 5.06 percent, Ford Group Philippines at 4.95 percent, and Suzuki Philippines, Inc. at 4.69 percent.

CAMPI president Rommel Gutierrez stated that the industry’s continued growth, particularly in the commercial segments, is a reflection of strong market fundamentals and the agility of CAMPI members in navigating short-term challenges. He expressed optimism that the positive momentum would persist into the second half of the year.
