Capiz Government Optimistic for Panay River Basin Project Completion

Capiz: The provincial government of Capiz, led by Governor Fredenil Castro, is optimistic about the completion of the Panay River Basin Integrated Development Project, which aims to tackle the persistent flooding issues in the province.

According to Philippines News Agency, Governor Castro expressed his confidence during a mass oath-taking ceremony for promoted teachers and school heads from Western Visayas in Capiz. He referenced a commitment made by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to complete the project initiated by his late father, Ferdinand E. Marcos. The Panay River Basin project, originally conceptualized during the elder Marcos's administration, was put on hold due to various circumstances.

Governor Castro highlighted President Marcos Jr.'s assurance, stating, "Si Presidente Bongbong Marcos ay merong mga salita na puwedeng panghawakan (President Bongbong Marcos has issued a statement that we can rely on)." This statement reinforces the administration's focus on seeing the project to fruition.

In a related development, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro announced last week that the Panay River Basin is among the priority projects for the Marcos administration in Western Visayas. Governor Castro also called on the people of Western Visayas to support and protect the President and First Lady Liza Marcos, who hails from the region.

During the event, the governor encouraged the newly promoted educators to not only fulfill their roles under the Expanded Career Progression (ECP) program initiated by President Marcos but also to pray for a prosperous future and positive direction for the current administration.
