Zamboanga: The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) inaugurated an overseas Filipino workers (OFW) lounge at the Zamboanga International Airport.
According to Philippines News Agency, the lounge, established through the efforts of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), aims to provide a dedicated space that offers comfort, assistance, and essential services to OFWs, particularly those traveling to and from the region.
CAAP Director General Raul Del Rosario emphasized the importance of the facility, stating, "The establishment of OFW Lounge reflects our continued commitment to make our airports more inclusive and responsive. We want our OFWs to feel valued, supported, and cared for from the moment they depart or arrive at the airport." The initiative is part of CAAP's ongoing efforts to enhance passenger services in alignment with the directives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The lounge opening was attended by notable figures, including Zamboanga City Mayor Khymer Adan Olaso, Migrant Worker Assistant Secretary Jerome Alcantara, DMW 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) Director Gay Iris Tancalagan, OWWA-9 Welfare Office officer in charge Rosarito Sultan, and CAAP Area Manager Edwin Luching.
