Manila: The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) reminded taxpayers that today, May 15, is the last day to file and pay Annual Income Tax Returns (AITRs). The BIR has urged those who have yet to complete their tax obligations to do so promptly using the bureau's electronic filing and payment systems.
According to Philippines News Agency, the BIR has mobilized its Revenue District Offices (RDOs), eLounges, and taxpayer assistance centers across the country to provide support on the final day of filing. These centers are offering assistance with filing, electronic support, and guidance on electronic payment methods to ensure a smooth process for taxpayers.
To further aid taxpayers, an Electronic Tax Filing Center - Tax Assistance Center has been set up to offer centralized support for electronic filing issues. Additionally, the BIR activated its National Command Center located at Revenue Region No. 7B in Mandaluyong City. This center is serving as the main hub for monitoring and coordinating the operations related to the May 15 filing deadline.
BIR Commissioner Charlito Martin Mendoza, along with Deputy Commissioners and other officials, is overseeing the operations nationwide. They are responsible for monitoring reports from RDOs and taxpayer assistance facilities and coordinating immediate responses to any filing-related issues. This ensures that taxpayers receive continuous assistance up until the closing of the deadline.
Mendoza expressed gratitude to President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. for the extension of the AITR deadline, stating that the one-month extension has greatly benefited taxpayers by allowing them ample time to comply with their tax obligations properly.
