Begornia and Aribado Triumph at Philippine National Squash Championships

Manila: Reymark Begornia and Jemyca Aribado emerged victorious in their respective divisions at the Philippine National Squash Championships, held at the National Squash Center within the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

According to Philippines News Agency, top-seeded Begornia secured the men’s elite title by overcoming second seed David William Peli±o in a five-set match, with scores of 11-3, 6-11, 9-11, 11-5, 11-6. Begornia expressed his satisfaction and gratitude for winning his second national title, acknowledging the match’s difficulty. His path to the final included victories over Meljohn Arebado and Christopher Buraga in earlier rounds. Peli±o reached the final following wins against Van Aero Dalida and Jonathan Reyes, while Buraga claimed third place after defeating Reyes.

In the women’s division, Jemyca Aribado, the top seed, defeated Aerra JC Mae Relano in the final with a decisive 11-0, 11-7, 11-2 victory. Aribado expressed her happiness at winning the title and hosting the championship event annually, noting the growing participation of women players. In her journey to the final, Aribado overcame Yvonne Alyssa Dalida in the semifinals and Lysa Kate Trasmil in the first round. Relano advanced to the final after defeating Jane Emmanuela Naz and No. 2 seed Lizette Reyes. Dalida secured third place with a win over Reyes.

The national players are set to participate in upcoming events at the National Squash Center, including the Philippine Satellite 2, Philippine Challenger, and Manila Jumbo Doubles 2025.
