Manila: The chiefs of 590 villages in Antique must submit their detailed priority projects to be eligible for the Bawat Barangay Makikinabang (BBM) program allocation. Liga ng mga Barangay Antique president Julius Cezar Tajanlangit said the provincial government received the P118 million budget two weeks ago.
According to Philippines News Agency, Tajanlangit stated that they are still waiting for the remaining barangays to submit their requirements, such as the names of the scholars and priority projects, so the funds could be distributed to them. He noted that about 80 percent of the village chiefs have already submitted the necessary information regarding their scholars and priority projects.
The BBM program is designed to provide each village with PHP200,000. Of this amount, PHP100,000 is allocated for the Bagong Pilipinas Barangay Scholars Program, while the remaining PHP100,000 is intended for Barangay-Identified Development Priorities. For those villages that have submitted their proposals, the projects include the acquisition of tents, monoblock chairs, computers or printers, projectors, and closed-circuit television systems.
The scholarship program specifically targets indigent students, particularly those who are incoming fourth-year college students for the school year 2026-2027. These students are members of vulnerable households or are at risk of dropping out.
