Aliligay and Salazar Triumph at National Duathlon Championships in Cavite

Manila: Lowegene Aliligay and Katrina Salazar emerged victorious in the elite category at the National Duathlon Championships held in Bacoor, Cavite.

According to Philippines News Agency, Aliligay’s two months of rigorous training culminated in his first national title, finishing the 5km run-20km bike-2.5km run event in 58 minutes and 51 seconds. “I really prepared for this tournament. I am so happy and proud of my achievement here,” said the 26-year-old from Echague, Isabela, who took the top spot in the men’s division. Daniel Cadavos secured second place with a time of 58:56, while Mark Ryan Lago from Trece Martires, Cavite, finished third at 1:01:57.

Katrina Salazar dominated the women’s division with a time of 1:07:25. The third-year dentistry student from the University of the East expressed her delight, saying, “It’s nice to win again.” Salazar also recently triumphed at the National Aquathlon Championships in Quezon City on September 28. Jena Valdez claimed second place in the women’s division with a time of 1:08:30.

In the men’s junior elite division, Go for Gold teammates Eric Joachim Hechanova and Justhene Navaluna finished first and second, recording times of 58:38 and 58:59, respectively. Anisha Eunice Caluya won the women’s junior elite division, finishing in 1:13:08, closely followed by Dhana Victoria Seda-Lomboy, who clocked in at 1:13:28.
