Ada Maintains Strength, Moves Away from Luzon Landmass

Manila: Tropical Depression (TD) Ada, also known internationally as Nokaen, is now moving away from the Luzon landmass, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Monday. In its 11 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA reported that Ada was last tracked 445 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora, and is moving northeastward at 10 kilometers per hour. It has maintained its strength, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kilometers per hour.

According to Philippines News Agency, the cyclone is expected to move east-northeast over the next 24 hours and may weaken into a low pressure area by Wednesday. Although no tropical cyclone wind signal has been hoisted in any part of the country, the northeast monsoon, locally known as "amihan," is expected to bring strong to gale-force gusts across several regions. These areas include Batanes, Babuyan Islands, northern and eastern mainland Cagayan, eastern Isabela, Ilocos Norte, Abra, Polillo Islands, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes.
