Abra Village Chief, Companion Killed, and Three Others Injured in Bangued Ambush

Bangued: Two persons, including a barangay captain from Lagayan, Abra, were killed while three others sustained injuries in an ambush in Bangued, the capital town of Abra, on Tuesday night.

According to Philippines News Agency, the police report identified the deceased as Ezequiel Parado, the barangay captain of Collago, and Arlene Dorias, a resident of Collago. The injured individuals were Sangguniang Bayan member Ailyn Parado, Edron Salingbay, and Jaypee Gacayan, all hailing from Collago.

Initial findings revealed that Ezequiel and Ailyn Parado were traveling in a dark blue Toyota Fortuner, bearing the license plate number NVR 11. The other victims were in a green Nissan Frontier pick-up truck with the plate number XRZ 889. The group was traversing the Calaba Bridge in Bangued, en route to Barangay Mudeng in La Paz municipality, when attackers in a white pick-up vehicle fired upon them at around 6:20 p.m.

Personnel from the Dolores municipal police station, who were headed towards the Abra Police Provincial Office in Bangued, witnessed the aftermath of the assault. They promptly reported the incident to the Bangued police station and rushed the victims to the provincial hospital in Abra. Tragically, Ezequiel Parado and Arlene Dorias were pronounced dead upon arrival by the attending physicians.
