Manila: The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Caraga Region (DSWD-13) said 92,692 boxes of family food packs (FFPs) had been released to thousands of families affected by Tropical Storm (TS) Basyang.
According to Philippines News Agency, the agency has fulfilled 100 percent of the requested FFPs from municipalities affected by TS Basyang. The prompt response, it added, was in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to ensure that no Filipino goes hungry, especially during times of disaster.
Basyang made landfall on Feb. 5 in Bayabas, Surigao del Sur, bringing heavy rains across most provinces in the region that triggered floods and landslides. Surigao del Sur province received the highest number of FFPs with 71,019, while Surigao del Norte got 16,675. Agusan del Norte also got 3,950 FFPs, Dinagat Islands with 709, and Agusan del Sur with 339.
'The DSWD-13 remains resolute in delivering timely assistance to affected communities,' the agency said.
