Bacolod city: Authorities arrested eight individuals and seized over PHP46 million worth of illegal drugs in a series of anti-narcotics operations conducted nationwide on Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the biggest haul was recorded in Bacolod City, where operatives confiscated about 4,200 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP28.56 million and arrested one suspect during a buy-bust operation on Tuesday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported Thursday.
In Pasay City, authorities intercepted an abandoned inbound parcel at a courier warehouse inside the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Complex containing about 1,234 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP8.39 million. The shipment was discovered through cargo screening, X-ray inspection, and K-9 assistance.
In Bi±an City, Laguna, two suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation that yielded around 1,000 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP6.8 million, along with marked money and other evidence.
Another anti-drug operation in Taguig City led to the arrest of three suspects and the confiscation of approximately 200 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP1.36 million.
In Zamboanga City, a suspect was arrested, and about 250 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP1.7 million were seized during a coordinated operation involving several police units.
Meanwhile, in Tubigon, Bohol, another suspect was arrested after authorities recovered around 220 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP1.49 million in an intelligence-driven operation.
All suspects are now under police custody, while confiscated drugs and other evidence were turned over to forensic units and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for laboratory examination and proper disposition.
Authorities are preparing charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 against the arrested individuals.
