7 Rescued from Yacht Fire in Batangas Waters

Batangas: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Tuesday responded to a fire incident involving motor yacht (M/Y) Allusive while sailing off Tingloy, Batangas. Seven Filipino crew members of the yacht abandoned ship and were rescued by its convoy vessel, M/Y Neptimus 3.

According to Philippines News Agency, a situation report by the PCG District Southern Tagalog (CGDSTL) indicated that a report of smoke and fire coming from the motor yacht was made by a PCG Sea Marshal Unit-Southern Tagalog personnel on board a transiting passenger vessel at around 7:35 a.m. Upon receiving the report, the CGDSTL initiated emergency response procedures.

Before the incident, the yacht was traveling with M/Y Neptimus 3, having departed from Puerto Galera en route to Punta Fuego in Nasugbu, Batangas, for a sailing event. While underway, a fire broke out onboard M/Y Allusive, believed to have originated from the engine room due to a possible electrical failure, subject to further investigation.

The CGDSTL has since towed M/Y Allusive towards the shoreline and assessed it to pose no hazard to navigation. Those rescued have been transported to Batangas Port for medical assessment, and all have been declared uninjured.

The CGDSTL continues to closely monitor the situation to ensure maritime safety and to address any potential environmental concerns.
