Dingras: A total of 52 trainees from the second district of Ilocos Norte started a basic security and marksmanship training related to security services at Dingras Civic Center on Friday.

According to Philippines News Agency, this government-initiated training program on security services with National Certificate II (NC II) accreditation is receiving over PHP1 million in funding through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Sustainable Livelihood Program. This initiative is in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for training and assessment, and the Department of Labor and Employment for occupational safety and health training.

The program combines skills training, competency development, and employment support, equipping beneficiaries with the knowledge and practical skills needed to pursue careers in security services. Security Services NC II is among the qualifications covered by TESDA scholarship programs.

The DSWD component complements the skills training by helping beneficiaries overcome some of the costs associated with entering the security profession, including pre-training requirements and other employment-related expenses.

During the opening program, Ilocos Norte 2nd District Rep. Eugenio Angelo Marcos Barba stated that the initiative demonstrates how government agencies can work together to turn skills training into concrete livelihood and employment opportunities, particularly for individuals from vulnerable sectors.

With PHP1.04 million invested in the program, Dingras Mayor Joemelle Saguid-Go Sy mentioned that the initiative is expected to help participants "gain marketable skills, improve their employability and build a more sustainable source of income for themselves and their families."
