Manila: More than 1,100 participants are converging in the Island Garden City of Samal for the Damosa Land 5150 on Sunday. The race begins with a 1.5-kilometer swim in crystal-clear waters, followed by a 40-kilometer bike ride along rolling coastal roads. The race concludes with a 10-kilometer run through communities and the business district.

According to Philippines News Agency, the Filipino delegation will compete with runners from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Denmark, France, Greece, India, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the Philippines, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. "Now in its second year, the event has become the biggest 5150 race weekend in the Philippines for 2026, reflecting the continued appeal of destination racing among both Filipino and international participants," organizer Sunrise Events Inc. said in a news release on Saturday.

Sunrise Sprint participants will race in a 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike, and 5-kilometer run course. The event will also feature the Philippine Sports Commission-supported Filipino Elite Category, which has provided homegrown athletes with an additional platform to develop and test their skills.

Sunday's races mark the conclusion of the year's 5150 Islands of the Philippines campaign, which began in Guimaras in Western Visayas on March 8, continued to Camiguin in Northern Mindanao on May 3, and Bohol in Central Visayas on July 12. "The campaign was created to encourage athletes to experience different Philippine island destinations through sports, combining racing with travel, culture, and community," Sunrise Events Inc. said.
