Zamboanga city: Authorities have arrested three suspects and seized some PHP6.8 million worth of illegal drugs in an anti-drug operation in this city. The suspects were arrested during a buy-bust operation around 2:40 p.m. Saturday on Governor Camins Avenue in Barangay Canelar, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) said in a report released Sunday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the arrested suspects were identified through their aliases as Sadam, 34; Alimuktar, 40; and Almodzrin, 33, all residents of this city. The buy-bust operation was launched following surveillance and after the suspect agreed to transact illegal drugs to an undercover agent, the agency said.
Operatives from the Zamboanga City Drug Enforcement Unit of the Philippine National Police supported the PDEA-9 field units during the operation. Seized from the suspects were a kilo of suspected shabu, mobile phones, and buy-bust money. The suspects were detained in preparation for the filing of charges against them for violation of Republic Act 1965 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Saturday's anti-drug operation is the second biggest drug haul of PDEA this month in this city. On May 16, PDEA operatives arrested a policeman and seized from him some two kilos of suspected shabu worth PHP13.6 million in Barangay Sta. Maria.
