Dinagat islands: The Dinagat Islands' provincial government honored 26 students who graduated with Latin honors last year, distributing cash awards during a ceremony on Monday. Governor Nilo Demerey Jr. presented the incentives at the People's Hall in San Jose town, with one summa cum laude receiving PHP10,000, one magna cum laude receiving PHP7,000, and 24 cum laude graduates receiving PHP5,000 each.
According to Philippines News Agency, Governor Demerey emphasized the value placed by the provincial government on the perseverance, discipline, and excellence embodied by these students. He stated that the cash incentives represent the province's commitment to honoring talent, nurturing potential, and inspiring others to follow their example. "Education is the foundation of progress. By recognizing their efforts, the provincial government affirms that the future of the Dinagat Islands rests in the hands of capable, dedicated, and visionary young leaders," he said.
Aimee Jimeno, mother of the summa cum laude awardee, expressed gratitude in a Facebook post. She conveyed her joy over the recognition and celebration of her child's academic achievement by the government and Governor Demerey.
