Napolcom Implements Ban on Single-Use Plastics in Offices

Manila: The National Police Commission (Napolcom) has prohibited the use of single-use plastics within its offices as part of efforts to promote environmental sustainability. According to Philippines News Agency, in a memorandum signed on August 28, Napolcom Vice Chairperson and Executive Officer Commissioner Rafael Vicente Calinisan directed all central and regional offices to minimize, and if possible, eliminate the use of disposable plastics in office activities such as meetings, trainings, and conferences. Banned items include plastic straws, stirrers, utensils, disposable cups and food containers, single-use water bottles, and plastic bags. Mabalacat: Authorities have arrested two individuals and seized some PHP75 million worth of suspected shabu during a joint airport interdiction operation at a warehouse at Clark Freeport Zone in Mabalacat, Pampanga. Manila: The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) confiscated PHP139.79 million worth of illegal drugs in a series of nationwide operations conducted from August 22 to 29. The operations resulted in significant arrests and drug seizures that marked a concerted effort to combat illegal drug activities across the country. Manila: The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) recorded a total of 235 arrests within a 24-hour period between Friday and Saturday. According to Philippines News Agency, NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin announced that the arrests occurred from 6 a.m. on August 29 to 5:59 a.m. on August 30.
