Lanao del Sur Village Chair Killed in Ambush

Lanao del Sur: Unidentified gunmen killed a village chairperson in Lanao del Sur and wounded his companion in an ambush in Barangay Montay here Wednesday morning, police said. Lt. Col. Jopy Ventura, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR), identified the victim as Binhar Jalambre Alon Jawad, 25, chairperson of Barangay Baraas, Picong, Lanao del Sur. According to Philippines News Agency, Jawad’s companion, Norhan Comilao Sarip, 20, was injured and is recovering at a district hospital in Malabang. Bicol Disaster Council on Red Alert for Lent

Manila: The Office of Civil Defense in Bicol (OCD-5) has directed all Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (PDRRMOs) and response cluster member agencies to raise red alert status in observance of Holy Week or Semana Santa 2025. Albay Youth Honors Traditional and Modern-Day Heroes

Albay: Around 100 elementary students in Albay province on Wednesday honored both traditional and modern-day heroes during the ‘Buhay na Bayani’ Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) celebration organized by the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Daraga.
