Twitter reinstates Michael Flynn on anniversary of Capitol riots

World food prices up 14.3% in 2022

ANKARA: Global food prices increased 14.3 percent year on year in 2022, the United Nations (UN) Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) said Friday.   The FAO food price index rose 18 points from the previous year to 143.7 points in 2022.   The index measures monthly changes in international prices of five major food commodity groups – cereal, meat, dairy products, vegetable oils, and sugar.   The dairy price index, according to FAO, jumped 19.6 percent, registering the highest annual average on record since 1990 with 142.5 points.   The cereal price index rose 17.9 percent, from 2021 to a

MANILA: The Marcos government has manifested its commitment to provide quality teacher education with its inclusion in the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028.   Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, in a news release on Saturday, said Republic Act No. 11713 or the Excellence in Teacher Education Act, signed into law last year, is highlighted in the PDP 2023-2028.   The law revamps the Teacher Education Council (TEC) by strengthening the coordination among the Department of Education, Commission on Higher Education and the Professional Regulation Commission.   Under the law, the TEC is mandated to set basic requirements for teacher education programs and

6-year-old student shoots teacher at Virginia school

WASHINGTON: A 6-year-old student is in police custody after he shot and wounded a teacher at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News, Virginia on Friday, according to police.   “The teacher’s injuries are believed to be life-threatening. The investigation remains ongoing,” the Newport News Police Department said in a statement.   Police said no students were injured in the incident.   The teacher is a woman in her 30s, media reports said. 14 workers get P2-M monetary award after DOLE-SEnA intervention

CEBU CITY: Fourteen maintenance workers who availed of the single-entry approach (SEnA) in settling their labor disputes have received nearly PHP2 million in monetary award. The amount was paid as a form of restitution for the underpayment of wages and the non-payment of the 13th-month pay of the workers of an adventure park here.
