LPA, ITCZ bring scattered rains over VisMin, Palawan

A low pressure area (LPA) embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains showers and thunderstorms over Mindanao, Visayas and Palawan, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Sunday. In its weather bulletin, PAGASA said the LPA was located at 200 km east of Davao City at 3 a.m. Benison Estareja of PAGASA said the chances of the LPA becoming a tropical depression are very low. Meantime, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will prevail in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon due to easterlies.

1.2-M reformulated Pfizer vaccine doses arrive in PH

The Philippines on Saturday night received 1.2 million doses of Pfizer vaccine that would be used for pediatric inoculation, the National Task Force against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) said. The government-procured jabs bring to more than 242 million doses the number of vaccines the country received since its initial rollout arrived in February 2021. The second black box has been recovered from the crash of China Eastern Airlines that killed all 132 people on board last week, authorities said on Sunday. The recorder was found 1.5 meters (5 feet) underground, according to emergency response headquarters for the accident. The labor department has launched a mobile service to address the growing needs of migrant Filipino workers in Al Khobar and other areas in the eastern region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
