Davao Sur journalist shot dead in rented apartment

A print and broadcast journalist in Davao del Sur was gunned down at about 6 p.m. on Saturday inside his rented apartment in Bansalan town. Reports coming from a fellow broadcast journalist in the same town and who rushed to the crime scene said Orlando “Dondon” Dinoy died on the spot due to a gunshot wound to the head. Dinoy was a reporter for Newsline Philippines in Davao City and a volunteer anchor of Digos City-based Energy FM that did weather reports Mondays to Fridays. New voters in Laoag up by 5K

New voters here increased by around 5,000 this year and almost half of it are transferees or those who were previously registered from other provinces, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Saturday. Lawyer Julius Balbas, city Comelec officer, said there had been a significant increase of voters with approximately 84,000 individuals who will be casting their votes in the May 2022 polls. “Many new voters availed the last day of extended voters’ registration in the city,” Balbas said. 120 Apayao volunteers undergo army training

Some 120 volunteers, aged 18-35 from Apayao’s seven towns, have joined a 45-day basic military training in support of the government’s peace-keeping measures and as reservists in case of national emergencies and during relief and rescue operations.
