2.4K Compostela Residents Receive Emergency Cash Assistance from DSWD-11

Compostela: The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Davao Region (DSWD-11) has commenced the distribution of Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) assistance to 2,394 beneficiaries in Compostela, Davao de Oro. This financial aid initiative, which began on Monday, aims to support families still recovering from the severe flooding and landslides caused by a shear line in February.

According to Philippines News Agency, each beneficiary will receive PHP5,122 to help address immediate survival needs, such as purchasing food, securing necessary medications, and managing other basic household expenses. The first batch of recipients includes 1,110 residents from Barangay San Miguel and another 1,284 from Barangay Ngan.

The ECT program is a critical component of DSWD's post-disaster interventions, providing quick, direct, and equitable relief to aid early recovery and enhance community resilience. "The cash grant is intended to support immediate survival requirements while families work to restore their livelihoods," the agency stated.

DSWD-11 regional director Rhuelo Aradanas emphasized the agency's commitment to efficiently providing aid. The ECT program not only offers financial assistance but also aims to restore dignity and hope to affected families. "As the rollout continues, we assure the public that all qualified beneficiaries will be served and no family will be left behind in the recovery process," Aradanas assured.

The implementation of the ECT program is carried out in close collaboration with local government units, following a rigorous validation process to ensure that assistance reaches the most vulnerable households.
