Manila: The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 11 (Davao Region) distributed 1,165 family food packs to residents of Barangay Puntalinao in Banaybanay, Davao Oriental, impacted by the recent earthquakes. This relief operation aims to ensure families recovering from the quake’s damage have adequate food and support.
According to Philippines News Agency, the DSWD-11’s quick response team led the distribution efforts in the affected community. On the same day, DSWD-11 Director Rhuelo Aradanas visited the family of a 70-year-old man who died during the tremors in Barangay Salvador, Mati City, Davao Oriental. Aradanas provided the grieving family with financial assistance and food packs, reinforcing the agency’s commitment to support disaster-affected families not only with aid but also with hope.
DSWD-11 data indicates that more than 1.2 million individuals across the region were affected by the magnitude 7.4 and 6.8 earthquakes that struck Davao Oriental and nearby provinces. The agency reassures that resources are sufficient, with PHP109.2 million in standby funds and relief items available. To date, DSWD-11 has delivered PHP79.3 million in assistance to the affected communities.
