Yulo Secures Bronze in Floor Exercise at Junior Worlds Gymnastics

Pasay city: Filipino gymnast Karl Eldrew Yulo clinched the bronze medal in the men’s floor exercise at the 3rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships, held at the Manila Marriott Hotel, Newport World Resorts. Yulo achieved a score of 13.733 points, placing him third behind China’s Lanbin Yang, who scored 13.833 points, and Italy’s Simone Speranza, who earned 13.766 points.

According to Philippines News Agency, the 17-year-old Yulo, who is the younger brother of Paris Olympics double-gold medalist Carlos Yulo, had previously finished second in the qualification round on Friday with a score of 14.233 points, following AIN’s Arsenii Dukhno, who scored 14.500. Yulo is set to compete in the vault and horizontal bar finals on Monday, marking the last events of the five-day tournament.

Yulo’s recent achievements include winning a silver medal in the vault at the Asian Junior Championships in Jecheon, South Korea in June. Meanwhile, in the women’s individual all-around category, Japanese gymnast Yume Minamino won gold with a score of 53.632 points, while French gymnast Elena Colas took silver with 53.298 points, and Japanese gymnast Misa Nishiyama secured the bronze with 53.066 points.

In the vault event, American gymnast Lavienna Crain claimed the gold medal with a score of 13.683 points, surpassing Japan’s Nishimaya, who scored 13.633 points, and Romania’s Alexia Blanaru, who scored 13.566 points.
