W. Visayas Police Refute Abduction Claims, Call Incident a Domestic Dispute

Iloilo: The Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 in Western Visayas has denied reports of an alleged abduction in the municipality of Pavia, which occurred on Monday evening. Instead, authorities have characterized the event as a 'domestic dispute.'

According to Philippines News Agency, the PRO-6 referenced an investigation report from the Pavia Municipal Police that shed light on the incident. It took place in Purok 3 around 6:30 p.m. and was described as stemming from a personal misunderstanding or love quarrel between a woman known as alias Steph and her former boyfriend.

The statement, signed by PRO-6 Director, Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan, emphasized initial findings that indicated the situation was a domestic issue, not a criminal abduction. It also mentioned that proper documentation and verification procedures are underway to ensure all details are accurately established.

The woman involved, Steph, personally visited the police station on Tuesday to clarify the situation, further supporting the police's assessment that it was a dispute rather than an abduction.

The regional police have advised the public against spreading 'unverified information that may cause unnecessary alarm and confusion,' in light of the alleged abduction reports circulating on social media.
