Chiaka Ogbogu anchored the U.S. defense with six of their 12 blocks, powering their fifth win in six outings to stay firmly on track for the finals.
According to Philippines News Agency, Jordan Thompson topscored with 15 points on 14 attacks and a block, while Ogbogu and Logan Eggleston had 11 points each for the Americans, who produced 40 attacks against the Czechs, who only had 27. Magdalena Jehlarova finished with nine points, while Ela Koulisiani and Monika Brancuska scored seven apiece for Czechia, which absorbed its third loss in six matches and second straight in the Pasig City leg.
Czechia will face Japan on Friday, while the USA takes a break before facing world No. 1 and defending champion Italy on Saturday. Japan survived Serbia, 20-25, 26-24, 18-25, 32-20, 15-7, last Wednesday. Mayu Ishikawa scored 24 points, Yukiko Wada added 20 points for the Japanese team, which is unbeaten after five matches. Aleksandra Uzelac and Nina Cajic scored 21 and 18 points, respectively for Serbia, which absorbed its fourth loss in five outings.
