Two Weather Systems to Bring Rain to Parts of the Philippines

Manila: Several areas in the country will be drenched with rain showers due to two prevailing weather systems on Friday. According to Philippines News Agency, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) indicated that the shear line affecting the eastern section of Mindanao will cause scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms across Caraga, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, and Davao Oriental. This weather condition may result in moderate to heavy rains that could lead to flash floods or landslides in the affected regions. The northeast monsoon, known locally as "amihan," will bring light rains to areas including Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Aurora. PAGASA also noted that the rest of Mindanao and the rest of Eastern Visayas will experience isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms, while the rest of the country will see isolated light rains influenced by "amihan." Additionally, moderate to strong winds and mode rate to rough coastal waters are expected across Northern and Central Luzon, as well as the eastern sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Other areas will experience light to moderate winds with slight to moderate seas. PAGASA added that no low pressure area is currently being monitored for potential tropical cyclone formation.
