Dumaguete: A government assistance payout and a job fair will highlight this year's celebration of Independence Day in this capital city, officials said on Wednesday.
According to Philippines News Agency, Ma. Socorro Mira, Public Employment Services Office (PESO) chief, stated in an interview that the local government of Dumaguete and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Negros Oriental are co-hosting the 128th Independence Day activities. The job fair, held at the Robinsons shopping mall, will feature 12 employers offering a total of 1,400 job vacancies. Of these, two employers are overseas, providing 600 vacancies, while 10 are local, offering 800 positions.
Government agencies, including the Department of Trade and Industry, PhilHealth, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development, will also be present at a one-stop shop to address the needs of attendees.
Meanwhile, Raizza Phoebe Rubia, DOLE-Negros Oriental Field Office information officer, announced that 174 individuals from Valencia town will receive PHP11,000 each during a Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) payout. This event will occur on the same day and at the same venue as the job fair. Rubia highlighted that these individuals worked under the TUPAD program for 20 days, earning a daily wage of PHP500. Additionally, TUPAD beneficiaries from Dumaguete had received their cash assistance during the Labor Day celebration on May 1.
