Washington: The president of the United States, Donald Trump, praised the House Energy and Commerce Committee's vote in favor of the Sunshine Protection Act, the bill that would make daylight saving time permanent. Trump argued that changing the clocks twice a year would entail high costs for citizens and local governments, citing in particular the expense of regulating large public clocks.
According to Philippines News Agency, the proposal, promoted by Republican Congressmen Rick Scott and Vern Buchanan, aims to maintain the current timetable between March and November. Supporters of the measure argue that it could improve public health, road safety, and outdoor recreation.
The proposed change would not affect Hawaii and much of Arizona, which would continue to observe standard time throughout the year. Advocates believe that adopting daylight saving time permanently could simplify scheduling and reduce confusion associated with the biannual time changes.
