Manila: Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODA) across eight cities in Northern Mindanao are scheduled to receive cash relief assistance this week. The initiative aims to support drivers impacted by increasing fuel costs.
According to Philippines News Agency, Department of Social Welfare and Development-Northern Mindanao (DSWD-10) Director Glofelia Uayan announced that the distribution will commence on April 8. Each driver will receive PHP5,000 under the DSWD's Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations program. Uayan emphasized the significance of this support, highlighting the challenges faced by tricycle drivers due to escalating fuel prices.
The initial rollout will cover several cities in the region, including El Salvador City and Gingoog City in Misamis Oriental; Malaybalay City and Valencia City in Bukidnon; and Ozamiz City, Tangub City, and Oroquieta City in Misamis Occidental. However, Iligan City will not be included in this distribution as its public transport system lacks a localized structure, making it ineligible for the payout.
