Tacloban: Tingog Party-list, in collaboration with Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) led by House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, will lead a major regional unity rally in Eastern Visayas on Thursday to mobilize the region’s three million Waray voters in support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s ‘Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas’ senatorial ticket.
According to Philippines News Agency, the massive political gathering is expected to be the largest of its kind in the region, bringing together six provincial governors, 13 district representatives, seven city mayors, 136 municipal mayors, and at least 10,000 grassroots leaders and volunteers from across political affiliations.
‘This is the unified voice of a region that has found strength and clarity in President Bongbong Marcos’ vision of a Bagong Pilipinas. When leadership takes root in the grassroots, governance flourishes at the national level,’ said Tingog Party-list Reps. Yedda Romualdez and Jude Acidre in a news release on Wednesday.
The grand assembly will feature a motorcade through Tacloban City, followed by a unity program inside the Tacloban Astrodome, where all 11 Alyansa senatorial candidates have been invited to present their platforms focused on jobs, education, peace, and inclusive growth.
With three million registered voters, Tingog said Eastern Visayas is poised to become a game-changing political bloc in the 2025 elections.
‘This gathering is not just participation — it’s declaration. Eastern Visayas will not only vote; we will lead,’ the group said.
Meanwhile, Romualdez said leadership must be rooted in love of country and service to others.
‘On May 8, Region 8 declares: we stand for unity, not division; for service, not self-interest; for country — always,’ added the House leader.
The candidates under Alyansa are former Interior secretary Benhur Abalos; Makati City mayor Abby Binay; incumbent Senators Ramon Revilla Jr., Pia Cayetano, Lito Lapid, and Francis Tolentino; former senators Panfilo Lacson, Manny Pacquiao, and Vicente Sotto III; and House lawmakers Erwin Tulfo and Camille Villar.
The rally will also celebrate grassroots empowerment, with barangay leaders from all six provinces reaffirming their vital role in national development.
