Davao: The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) of Davao del Norte has successfully completed a comprehensive training program designed to equip persons deprived of liberty (PDL) with skills in financial literacy and massage therapy. This initiative is part of the Davao Prison and Penal Farm's (DPPF) broader efforts in rehabilitation and skills development.
According to Philippines News Agency, the training was facilitated by the External Affairs Unit, under the guidance of Insp. Lainne Glase, Acting Camp Commander of the Correctional Institution for Women-Davao. The activity received support from DPPF Acting Superintendent Supt. Abel Ciruela. This collaboration underscores the Bureau of Corrections' (BuCor) commitment to the enhancement of PDLs' capabilities.
The training sessions were conducted by TESDA instructors John Earvin Gonzales and Romally Antonette Tagnipez, who focused on imparting knowledge in financial literacy and massage therapy, respectively. The program's primary goal is to empower the PDLs with essential vocational skills and financial awareness, which are critical for their successful rehabilitation and future reintegration into society.
DPPF and TESDA Davao del Norte remain committed to initiatives like these that provide PDLs with practical tools for personal and professional development. These efforts aim to foster a sense of hope, self-reliance, and positive transformation among the inmates, contributing significantly to their personal growth and eventual reintegration into the community.
