TD Ada Moves Slowly Over Philippine Sea; Gradual Weakening Seen

Manila: Tropical Depression (TD) Ada maintained its strength late Monday afternoon as it slowly moved east southeast over the Philippine Sea. In its 5 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Ada was last tracked 465 km east of Casiguran, Aurora, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

According to Philippines News Agency, no tropical cyclone wind signal is hoisted on any part of the country, but the northeast monsoon or "amihan" is forecast to bring strong to gale-force gusts across Batanes, Babuyan Islands, northern and eastern mainland Cagayan, eastern Isabela, Ilocos Norte, Abra, Polillo Islands, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said rough seas may prevail over several coastal waters: the seaboard of Isabela; eastern seaboards of mainland Cagayan; the seaboard of Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Aurora, and Camarines Norte; northern seaboards of Camarines Sur and Catanduanes; seaboards of Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur; northern and eastern seaboards of Polillo Islands; eastern seaboards of Catanduanes and Northern Samar; and the remaining seaboard of mainland Cagayan.

Mariners of small seacraft, including all types of motorbancas, are advised not to venture to the sea. Ada is expected to gradually weaken and may be downgraded into a low pressure area by Wednesday.
