Negeri Sembilan is offering an incentive of RM5,000 to athletes from the state who win gold medals at the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA) in Sarawak, which will be held from Aug 17 to 24.
State Secretary Datuk Mohd Zafir Ibrahim also announced that silver medallists will receive RM3,000, and bronze medallists RM2,000.
“For doubles, each athlete will receive RM3,000 for a gold medal, RM2,000 for silver, and RM1,000 for bronze. For groups of three, each athlete will receive RM2,000 for a gold medal, RM1,500 for silver, and RM800 for bronze.
“For teams with more than four members, each will receive RM1,500 for a gold medal, RM1,000 for silver, and RM500 for bronze,” he told reporters after officiating the flag handover ceremony for Negeri Sembilan’s SUKMA contingent at a resort here today.
Also present was State Youth and Sports Development Committee chairman Mustafa Nagoor, who is also the Chief de Mission.
A total of 520 participants, including athletes, coaches, team managers, medical teams and secretariat
members, will attend the Games. The congtingent has been given a minimum 19 gold medals target.
