Subic International Triathlon to Host Elite Athletes from 20 Nations

Subic bay: Elite athletes from at least 20 countries are set to compete in the Subic Bay International Triathlon (SuBIT) on May 2 and 3 at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. The event, celebrating its 33rd edition, is recognized as Southeast Asia's oldest and longest-running standard distance race.

According to Philippines News Agency, this year's competition gains added significance as it is billed as the 2026 NTT Asia Triathlon Cup and debuts as the Asia Triathlon Junior Cup Subic Bay. The two-day event will offer ranking points for both World Triathlon and Asia Triathlon, featuring draft-legal sprint races for Elite and Junior Elite athletes, alongside Super Trikids, Youth Super Sprint, Sprint, and Standard categories.

SuBIT continues to exemplify the robust partnership between Triathlon Philippines, led by Tom Carrasco, who also serves as Asia Triathlon senior vice president, and the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), under the leadership of chairman and administrator Eduardo Jose Ali±o. The event receives support from the Philippine Sports Commission, NTT, Gatorade (official hydration partner), Western Guaranty Corporation, C-Vitt, and Subic Bay Travelers Hotel (official race hotel).

Last year's winners were Japan's Takuto Oshima with a time of 1:50:25 and Manami Hayashi at 2:04:58, while the top Filipino finishers were Dayshaun Ramos at 1:54:03 and Raven Alcoseba at 2:14:16. Technical delegate Darnis Mahmud of Malaysia will return to lead the officiating team.
