SPD Seizes PHP181 Million in Illegal Drugs, Arrests 104 Suspects in Weeklong Operation

Manila: The Southern Police District (SPD) has successfully seized PHP181 million worth of illegal drugs and detained 104 suspects in a series of operations conducted from April 6 to 12. These operations underscore the SPD's commitment to combating illegal drug activities within its jurisdiction, which includes the cities of Makati, Pasay, Taguig, Para±aque, Las Pi±as, Muntinlupa, and the municipality of Pateros.

According to Philippines News Agency, the arrests and seizures were the result of 79 anti-drug operations. Of the 104 suspects taken into custody, 98 were identified as street-level individuals, while six were classified as high-value targets. Acting SPD chief Col. Glenn Oliver Cinco emphasized the department's determination to dismantle the entire drug network, stating, "We will not back down and we will not stop. We will intensify our operations against illegal drugs - we will target the entire network, from street level to high-value targets."

The operations successfully confiscated approximately 14,277.67 grams of shabu, 44.07 grams of marijuana, 1.3 grams of kush, and 41,421.36 milliliters of liquid shabu, with a total estimated value of PHP181,567,642.

In a related development, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) reported the arrest of 163 individuals for various offenses between April 5 and 11. Among those detained were 74 drug suspects and 49 individuals wanted for other crimes. The QCPD also seized around PHP1.6 million worth of illegal drugs in 74 operations during this period, as well as PHP8,969 in gambling-related activities from 22 operations.

QCPD director Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio confirmed that complaints have already been filed against some of the suspects with the City Prosecutor's Office, further demonstrating the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to uphold the rule of law and public safety.
