General santos city: A lone bettor from South Cotabato has become an instant multimillionaire after securing the PHP39-million Lotto 6/42 jackpot on Thursday night.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) announced on Friday that the winner, hailing from General Santos City, South Cotabato, successfully guessed the winning combination of 33-32-18-01-10-04. This remarkable win allows the individual one year to claim their PHP39,385,042.44 prize at the PCSO main office in Mandaluyong City.
Under the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion law, the winnings exceeding PHP10,000 are subject to a 20-percent tax. Meanwhile, 21 other bettors each received PHP52,380.95 for correctly guessing five of the six winning digits. In addition, 1,080 individuals won PHP925.92 for four correct digits, and 20,499 bettors secured PHP20 each for matching three correct digits.
The 6/42 Lotto is conducted every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles urged the public to support the agency's gaming products to generate additional revenues for health initiatives, medical services, and other national charities. Through its mandatory contributions, the PCSO not only assists individuals in need of medical aid but also allocates funds to government institutions.
