Bacolod: A Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) councilor and five other individuals were arrested in three separate buy-bust operations that yielded PHP2.96 million worth of shabu in this city, police reports showed.
According to Philippines News Agency, on Monday, Joven Antoniano, 23, of Barangay 12, was apprehended alongside alias Jess, 19, after selling PHP1,000 worth of shabu to an undercover policeman in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2, shortly after midnight. Another individual, identified only as 'JM,' 18, a resident of Barangay 9, was also taken into custody.
In a report, the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) stated that the drug enforcement team of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Station 2 seized 105 grams of shabu valued at PHP714,000 during the operation. Intelligence operatives had received a tip from a confidential informant indicating that alias 'Jess' was involved in illegal drug activities, distributing the prohibited substance in Barangays 2, 10, and 12.
During the operation, the police poseur-buyer encountered Antoniano and another drug personality purchasing shabu in the area, as detailed in the report. PRO-NIR director Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas emphasized the commitment to law enforcement, stating, "We will enforce the law with unwavering resolve, regardless of the position or status of those involved. Public officials, high-value individuals, or street-level operators alike will not be spared."
On January 18, operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit arrested alias John during an operation in Purok Cubay, Barangay 40. The 35-year-old drug personality, a resident of the same village, was found in possession of 55 grams of shabu with a standard drug price of PHP374,000.
The previous night, January 17, two individuals were arrested during an operation conducted by Police Station 8 at Purok Crossing 8, Old Runway in Barangay Tangub. Operatives confiscated 275 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP1.87 million from the suspects identified as alias Jeffrey, 38, and alias Fernando, 39, both residents of Barangay Tangub.
