Six NPA Rebels Surrender in Camarines; Firearms Cache Uncovered

Camarines sur: Six members of the New People's Army (NPA), including a pregnant medical officer, have surrendered to government forces in Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte this week, as reported by the 9th Infantry Division (9ID) on Friday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the 9ID spokesperson, Maj. Frank Roldan, stated in a phone interview that a seven-month pregnant NPA medical officer, known only by the alias 'Lyka,' voluntarily surrendered to troops in Camarines Sur on Tuesday. She was affiliated with Squad 1, Platoon 2, Komiteng Larangang Guerilla 1, Sub-Regional Committee 2 of the Bicol Regional Party Committee. Lyka is currently receiving medical care and psychosocial support from the government, including assistance for her reintegration into society.

In addition to Lyka, two other NPA members, identified as 'Bruno' and 'Lucky,' surrendered in Libmanan, Camarines Sur, on Wednesday through the Local Peace Engagement Team. They are in the process of having their documents prepared to receive benefits under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, three rebels surrendered in Basud, Camarines Norte. Known only as Esme, Larry, and Alen, these individuals assisted authorities in locating an arms cache in Ragay, Camarines Sur. The operation led to the recovery of four M16 rifles and ammunition. Further seizures in Lagonoy, Camarines Sur, resulted in a total confiscation of 12 M16 rifles, one M60 machine gun, two anti-personnel mines, and assorted ammunition.
