Manila: The shear line and the northeast monsoon, locally known as 'amihan', are expected to continue bringing rains to various parts of the Philippines, as reported by the weather bureau on Sunday.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued a 4 a.m. bulletin indicating that heavy rains are anticipated over Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Davao Oriental, and Davao de Oro due to the shear line.
Meanwhile, regions such as Soccsksargen, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, and Bukidnon will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms also attributed to the shear line. The weather bureau has warned of possible flash floods or landslides in these areas due to moderate to heavy rains.
In contrast, Cagayan Valley, Bicol Region, the remainder of Visayas, the rest of Northern Mindanao, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, and Quezon are expected to see cooler weather with cloudy skies and light rains driven by the northeast monsoon. Metro Manila and other parts of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains, also due to the influence of 'amihan'.
PAGASA is closely monitoring a low pressure area (LPA), formerly known as Ada, currently located within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). The LPA is positioned 765 kilometers east of General Santos City, South Cotabato, and is deemed 'unlikely' to redevelop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
Furthermore, strong to gale force northeast to north winds and rough to very rough seas are expected over the eastern section of Mindanao. The rest of the archipelago will encounter moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters.
