Manila: The government's efforts to provide basic services to Filipinos affected by the Middle East crisis will be the main topics in the Kapihan ng Samahang Plaridel on Friday at the La Casa Restaurant, Rizal Park Hotel in Ermita, Manila.
According to Philippines News Agency, Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Cacdac will lead the Friday Kapihan, which will also include Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Commissioner Joel M. Viado of the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
Cacdac will discuss the launch of the Recruitment Industry Crisis Coordination Council, aimed at assisting distressed overseas Filipino workers in the Middle East. Dumlao will address the DSWD's Cash Relief Assistance for Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) drivers and the Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens. Meanwhile, Viado will explain the BI's recruitment efforts and the modus operandi of human traffickers and immigration gaps.
The Kapihan is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. and has been made possible through the sponsorship of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, and the Office of Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko" Domagoso.
