Sorsogon: Senate President Francis Escudero on Monday called on residents near Mt. Bulusan to stay alert and heed government advisories after the volcano’s phreatic eruption earlier in the day.
According to Philippines News Agency, Escudero emphasized the importance of vigilance and compliance with local government directives in response to the volcanic activity. He highlighted that the phreatic eruption, characterized by the emission of smoke, serves as a crucial warning for all Sorsoganons, particularly those residing in proximity to the volcano.
Escudero assured the public that the provincial government is actively coordinating with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, the Office of Civil Defense under the Department of National Defense, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to ensure the safety of residents.
