Manila: Executive Secretary Ralph Recto called on the local government units (LGUs) to ensure the efficient and transparent use of the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF). Recto met with all 17 Metro Manila mayors at Malaca±an Palace in Manila to discuss the LGSF and align national and local priorities, the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES) said in a news release.
According to Philippines News Agency, the Executive Secretary consulted and worked closely with the mayors to plan locally driven, high-impact programs and projects tailored to their communities' needs. The meeting ensured that resources will be deployed efficiently, transparently, and on initiatives that deliver immediate, tangible benefits to Filipinos.
The OES stated that Metro Manila mayors reaffirmed full support for the current administration's development agenda, expressing gratitude to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for the historic rollout and expanded access of the LGSF. The 2026 LGSF features the largest allocation in history for local government units, demonstrating the President's commitment to ensuring that inclusive growth reaches every barangay, municipality, and city.
In 2026, the LGSF is allocated PH57.87 billion for financial assistance to LGUs, marking a significant increase from previous years and reflecting a commitment to improving local governance and infrastructure. The LGSF finances priority local projects, such as roads, evacuation centers, health facilities, and climate-resilient infrastructure.
