Rationing Suspended as Water Supply Increases in Butuan City

Butuan city: The Butuan City Water District (BCWD), effective on Tuesday, lifted the water rationing it implemented here since last week, restoring normal service to consumers. Recent localized thunderstorms have boosted the water supply from BCWD's source, the Taguibo Aquatech Solutions Corporation in Barangay Anticala.

According to Philippines News Agency, the BCWD reported that as of May 4, 2026, the total water supply has reached 60.88 million liters per day (MLD). The water utility provider is now operating within normal levels, with a current supply of 60.59 MLD, surpassing the usual 56.20 MLD. This increase in supply has allowed the suspension of rationing operations through tanker services.

The BCWD emphasized that despite the improved conditions, an El Ni±o Alert remains in effect. The organization will maintain strict 24/7 system monitoring and has urged all barangay councils and residents to stay prepared and continue practicing water conservation, anticipating a possible second wave of dry conditions.

Additionally, the BCWD announced that certain areas of the city will revert to their original service schedules. This includes potential low pressure and no water conditions in villages such as San Vicente Horizon, Masao, Lumbocan, Bonbon, and Bancasi.
