QC gov’t, police vow justice for slain siblings

The Quezon City local government and Quezon City Police District (QCPD) are leaving no stone unturned to solve the incidental killing of two children in Novaliches.

In a message sent to the Philippine News Agency on Saturday, Mayor Joy Belmonte said she is both outraged and sad over the incident that happened at Jordan Plains Subdivision in Barangay Sta. Monica around 10:50 a.m. on June 10.

“We call on the QCPD to exhaust all possible means to get to the bottom of this unfortunate incident, which claimed the lives of two children,” Belmonte said.

Brig. Gen. Remus Medina, QCPD Director, has formed the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) Zamora Siblings, headed by Col. Redrico Maranan, Deputy District Director for Operations.

The QCPD report said the gunman attacked the victims’ father, Mitchell Zamora, in front of his house.

Wounded, Zamora ran inside their house but the suspects followed him and opened fire at the front door, hitting instead his children aged 7 and 3.

One was declared dead on arrival while the other one died while undergoing treatment.

The victims’ father survived.

Security footage showed the suspects fleeing on a motorcycle and transferring to a black sedan at the subdivision exit.

“Ang lahat ng posibleng anggulo sa imbestigasyon ay isaalang-alang ng SITG Zamora Siblings upang matukoy ang motibo sa pamamaril na ikinasawi ng dalawang musmos na magkapatid. Hindi kami titigil sa pagtugis sa salarin at sisiguraduhin naming mabibigyan ng hustisya ang mga biktima (SITG Zamora will look into all possible angles in our investigation in order to determine the motive of the shooting that killed the two young siblings. We will not stop pursuing the culprits and we will make sure that justice is served),” Medina said in a previous statement.
