Public Alert: Individuals Posing as BSP Representatives

Manila: The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) on Tuesday warned the public against individuals who falsely claim to be BSP officers or personnel to solicit donations or obtain personal information. "The BSP does not solicit donations or any form of monetary contribution from the public," the BSP said in a statement.

According to Philippines News Agency, the central bank advised the public to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of any communication or document purportedly issued by or associated with the BSP. The BSP emphasized the importance of being vigilant against fraudulent activities that misuse the bank's name.

The BSP further urged that any suspicious or illegal activity should be reported to appropriate law enforcement authorities for investigation and proper action. This proactive measure aims to protect the public from falling victim to such deceptive schemes.

This recent advisory marks the second warning issued by the BSP within a matter of weeks. On May 28, the bank cautioned the public against fake online posts using the names and images of well-known government and business personalities to promote fraudulent investment schemes.
