Sibulan: The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Negros Oriental has initiated its Electronic Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (eCRVS) System Birth and Death Registration in Sibulan, Negros Oriental.
According to Philippines News Agency, Ariel Fortuito, the Chief Statistical Specialist and Provincial Statistics Officer, disclosed that three pilot areas in Sibulan are currently implementing the eCRVS. The pilot areas include the Local Civil Registry Office, Sibulan Primary Care Facility, and Negros Polymedic Hospital, with personnel having undergone training late last year.
Fortuito highlighted that the eCRVS system is a platform designed to streamline the end-to-end registration of vital events such as births and deaths, enhancing service delivery and enabling real-time capture and reporting. A memorandum of agreement was signed earlier by Mayor Jose Pepe Abiera of Sibulan and PSA-Negros Oriental officials to facilitate this initiative.
On Friday, the PSA-Negros Oriental will deploy information and communication technology (ICT) equipment, including computers, printers, and scanners, for the eCRVS system in the Sibulan pilot areas. A memorandum of agreement has also been signed for the Negros Polymedic Hospital, with the ICT equipment having been delivered on February 26.
The eCRVS system is planned to be launched in more areas, to be utilized by local civil registry offices and other CRVS stakeholders, such as health facilities and institutions. Fortuito expressed optimism that additional local government units and stakeholders will adopt the eCRVS to accelerate and simplify the registration of essential events like births and deaths.
