Provincial Board Advocates for Infrastructure Development in Sibalom

Antique: Antique's Provincial Board is requesting the Office of Governor Paolo Everardo Javier for the construction of two vital projects in Sibalom municipality. In two separate resolutions during its regular session on Monday, the Provincial Board approved the construction of a farm-to-market road (FMR) in Barangay Igpanolong and a potable water system in Barangay Igsuming worth a total of PHP10 million.

According to Philippines News Agency, Board Member Fernando Corvera Sr., who authored both resolutions, said they are requesting from the Office of the Governor PHP5 million for each project. He highlighted that Barangay Igpanolong, an upland barangay 11.7 km from Sibalom town proper, requires the FMR to facilitate the transportation of its agricultural produce to the market.

Corvera explained that currently, farmers from Barangay Igpanolong face challenges due to the rough road conditions when traveling to the town proper. He expressed hope that with the requested funding, an all-weather road or concrete road could be established to enable farmers to efficiently transport rice, vegetables, and other crops to the market.

Furthermore, Corvera emphasized the need for a potable water system in Barangay Igsuming to provide residents with access to a safe, clean, and sustainable water supply. He noted that Barangay Igsuming faces ongoing challenges in securing a reliable and sufficient potable water source, impacting the daily needs and welfare of households and the community.
