PRO-NIR Targets Criminal Charges Against Officer in Recruitment Extortion Case

Bacolod city: The Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) is actively pursuing criminal charges and conducting an administrative investigation against a police officer accused of extorting money from an applicant seeking a position within the Philippine National Police (PNP). The complaint, which was filed at the Police Station 4 of the Bacolod City Police Office, is currently under investigation.

According to Philippines News Agency, the PRO-NIR has not disclosed the identity of the involved police officer or their unit assignment. PRO-NIR Director Roman Cardi±o emphasized that the PNP recruitment process is governed by strict policies and merit-based standards to ensure fairness and transparency for all qualified applicants. He stated that any actions undermining public trust or exploiting individuals aspiring to join the police force would not be tolerated.

The PRO-NIR report indicates that criminal charges are being pursued alongside an administrative investigation to establish accountability and determine appropriate sanctions based on existing PNP policies. Cardi±o urged individuals who have experienced similar issues or possess information regarding illegal recruitment activities involving police personnel to report these incidents to the authorities.

Cardi±o stressed the importance of maintaining a professional and ethical police organization and encouraged the public to come forward with any information to aid in taking appropriate actions.
