PRO-6 Commits to Prosecuting Bomb Threat Suspects

Iloilo city: The Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO-6) has pledged to pursue legal action against those responsible for a bomb threat targeting the Iloilo City Hall and Iloilo capitol. This commitment follows an investigation where no explosive devices or suspicious items were discovered at the mentioned locations on Sunday.

According to Philippines News Agency, PRO-6 director Brig. Gen. Randulf Tua±o announced in a press conference that he has instructed the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) and the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit (RACU) to prioritize the case. He assured that the Philippine National Police possesses the technical capabilities needed to trace and identify the suspects. Tua±o emphasized the urgency of stopping such threats, stating, "We will file cases and put to jail those behind this."

Col. Wilbert Parilla, Director of ICPO, noted during the briefing that the bomb threat was posted on the Facebook account 'Djbobzkie Montero' on Sunday afternoon. The post implicated Iloilo 2nd District Rep. Kathy Gorriceta, Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., and Mayor Raisa Tre±as, with a claim of planting five bombs at the city hall and capitol. Investigators secured digital evidence through cyber patrolling, which was submitted to the RACU to trace the account owner. Attempts to contact the account were unsuccessful.

Acting Mayor Lady Julie Grace Baronda has instructed the building administrator and the head of security to enhance and enforce security measures diligently to protect employees, clients, visitors, and the public pending the official report. Mayor Tre±as, attending an international conference in Singapore, expressed relief that the threat was unsubstantiated. She urged the ICPO and RACU to swiftly identify the individual behind the threat and pursue appropriate criminal charges, stressing that such threats pose serious risks by inciting fear, disrupting government functions, and endangering public safety.
